Chocolate with puffed rice home

Giblets homemade chocolates we bring you today, a delight and no sin. And if you love coconut you'll love.

The first thing will be to make a homemade puffed rice, that we will later use to prepare the chocolates, but to which you can give a lot of uses and make it both sweet and salty.

 


 

INGREDIENTS to make puffed rice

  • Rice (for chocolates with half a cup is more than enough, but you can prepare more quantity to take advantage of all the elaboration)
  • Water for cooking (a tad more than twice as much rice)
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Note 1: If you want to make it for sweet you can also change the water for milk in the cooking.

Note 2: During cooking you can also take advantage of it to add some seasoning such as the skin of an orange, cinnamon,…

 

PREPARATION to make puffed rice

  1. We cook the rice as usual. The idea is that the rice is well cooked, there is nothing hard left. We rinse and drain well.
  2. We preheat the oven to 100º previously.
  3. In a baking tray, We put baking paper on top and spread the rice all over the tray.
  4. We lower the oven temperature to 70-80º and we introduce the tray with the rice. We will leave it for a few 2-3 hours until the rice has dried. The idea is to remove the moisture from the grain. Monitor and stir from time to time if our oven does not distribute the heat well so that it reaches all the grains of rice equally.
  5. Once taken out of the oven, we put a little oil in a frying pan, over high heat and when it is hot we add the rice, Part by part, so that the rice is well distributed and there is not too much in the pan. Remove from the pan before it begins to toast, because otherwise it can be a little harder to bite, but if we remove it in time, a perfect texture of puffed rice remains.
  6. When removing the rice from the pan, put it on an absorbent paper to remove excess oil and you are ready to eat, save, or to prepare some chocolates like the ones we are going to make next.

Note: If they are for another preparation, you can add it before storing sprinkled cinnamon, sugar, or whatever you prefer to flavor. Also a pinch of salt if you want it salty.

 

Puffed rice
 

INGREDIENTS to make chocolates

  • 6 tablespoons extra virgin coconut oil.
  • 3 tablespoons defatted pure cocoa powder
  • Some sweetener like stevia, sugar,… to taste and optional.
  • Puffed rice

 

PREPARATION to make chocolates

  1. The coconut oil below 25ºC solidifies, so either we leave it at room temperature if it is higher than 25º or in a saucepan over a very low heat we give it a little heat so that it melts.
  2. Add the sweetener and cocoa and stir until there is a homogeneous mixture.
  3. In some chocolate molds we fill halfway with the mixture, add some grains of puffed rice and complete with the mixture to cover the entire mold.
  4. We take to the fridge to solidify and that's it, some homemade chocolates, rich and without rare ingredients.
